Multivitamins, Memory, and Aging

Are you part of the 33%? One third of American adults take a multivitamin. Multivitamins help the body to function at its best.

But did you know that multivitamins can help with your memory and in healthy aging?

Researchers in Australia's Monash Unviversity found that multivitamin intake and immediate memory had a positive correlation.

As a speech-language pathologist I really find this significant as I work with a variety of people with immediate memory deficits.

The National Institue of Environmental Health Sciences found that people who use multivitamins may have a younger biological age than those who don't.

Several studies have suggested that the structures at the end of each chromosome that shorten over time with each cell divison, telomeres, may be a marker of biological aging.

In this study of women ages 35 - 74, the researchers found that the multivitamin users were associated with longer telomeres.

They also found that longer telomeres were indicated in users with higher intakes of vitamins E and C.

The group of women who took mutlivitamins also demonstrated longer telomeres that those who didn't take them.

My favorite mulitvitamin is Beyond Tangy Tangerine. I mix this in a drink everyday and it is a great way to get a complete supplement each and everyday.
