How to Prevent Birth Defects Before Pregnancy

Did you know that the most most birth defects are those of the brain and of the spine?

Spina bifida and anencephaly are called NTDs, or Neural Tube Defects. This means that the spine or skull do not close completely.

These affect about 3,000 pregnancies each year here in the U.S.

Researchers discovered that if women included a B vitamin each day plus at least 400mcg of folic acid daily, it could prevent up to 70% of these birth defects.

What is important is that the folic acid is absorbed in your blood so that when you do become pregnant, the baby will enjoy a healthy start.

These neural tube defects happpen 18 to 30 days after conception. Most women don't even know that they are pregnant at this point, so you can see the importance of having these important nutrients before you become pregnant.

There was a 31% decline in spina bifida and a 16% decline in ananephaly by 1999.

There are still a lot of birth defects that could be prevented, however. It's been reported that only 40% of women take folic acid daily, even when they are aware of its benefits.

If you include a great supplement in your diet like BTT, Beyond Tangy Tangerine, this includes not only many great vitmains, minerals, fruits, and vegetables in a delicious drink, but it also includes the recommended daily amount of folic acid.

Stay healthy and live younger and longer,

Brian
